We have heard some pretty SPOOKY stories in the library this week! Fourth graders were treated to one of my favorites, The Surprise Guest by R. L. Stine. Fifth graders got spooked with a rat story by Bram Stoker, The Judge's House. And it was a rumble with pumpkins, skeletons and scary Miss Mary for the younger kids!

Walk to School and Earn $5000 for Our School
October is International Walk to School Month and Mann School is up for the challenge! For the entire month, Horace Mann School students and their families can help their schools win one of five $5,000 grants – simply by walking or bicycling to school!
Parents are invited to sign up online for the Walk to School Challenge at www.facebook.com/greenworks, and log their families' walking or bicycling trips on behalf of their school. The five schools with the highest levels of participation will be eligible to win a $5,000 grant. Marianne Malone tells us to focus on working hard!
On Monday fourth and fifth graders learned that it is HARD WORK to get a book published! Author Marianne Malone shared her writing experiences with us and we found that she spent FIVE YEARS from start to finish getting her book, The Sixty-Eight Rooms published! Wow! Now a research paper will not be so daunting!
THANK YOU MAGIC TREE BOOKSTORE FOR DIRECTING MARIANNE MALONE OUR WAY!
